Is Authenticity Important?
My dissertation whilst studying at the RCA explored the notion that while our surburban vernacular is an increasingly inauthentic landcape of pastiche UPVC windows. Most appear blissfull in ignorance surrounded by plasticised versions of a supposed ideal. A detailed study of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland Paris and Venice provide an intersting exploration in what is affectionately and acceptably false and the potential to harness and maximise the effectiveness of architectural delivery.
